Catalyst project Training Update

Training was an essential part of the catalyst project throughout the process. FÁS Screen Training Ireland worked closely with the course designer Liz Gill to design and implement the seminar series and the ongoing mentorship, which is still taking place. FÁS Screen Training Ireland Bursary Award Scheme

Fiadhnait McCann received a bursary award to participate in an internship with Skywalker Sound in California the following is an overview of her experience.

I recently completed a three week internship in Skywalker Sound in California. Skywalker is one of the most advanced audio post production facilities in the world, which produces soundtracks for a wide range of Hollywood films. My main focus was on sound FX and sound design. I had the opportunity to learn from highly experienced and talented FX editors and designers, such as Doug Murray and Will Files. Doug and Will supervised the sound on the recent film 'Cloverfield'. I attended a number of mixes on upcoming, big budget feature films and participated in field FX recording sessions. It was a great opportunity to indulge my passion for film, as the Skywalker crew are highly motivated and passionate about their work. I gained a great deal of experience which I could not have gained in Ireland.

For full details on the bursary award scheme please go to our website or contact the Bursary Administrator, Emer MacAvin on t: 01 483 0840 or e: emer.macavin@fas.ie
